Why are we not seeking both reformation and transformation?
Reformation is defined as the act or process of reforming an institution or practice. Change may not last forever as it keeps evolving or devolving, whereas transformation is a dimensional shift, and once we are transformed there is no question of going back but being a transformed person. Change is only temporary. Whereas “Permanent Change is Transformation”. Transformation at the person-level is needed and critical to effectuating permanent change within the criminal justice reform efforts afoot.
If we are going to see lasting change within the criminal justice system, we must not only engage in pursing reforms to structures, systems, and policies but there has to be dialogue that includes transformation.
